An alleged drunk driver struck a ten-year-old child on Sunday, March 30th 2014. The woman, a 33 year-old Santa Ana resident was arrested at the scene.
The child was struck at Cabrillo Park Dr and 17th Street in Santa Ana early in the evening. According to the Santa Ana Police Department, the boy was with his brother while crossing the street. The woman, Suray Leon, was driving a Ford F-150 when the incident happened. The boy was thrown approximately 45 feet after being struck.
A spokesperson for the SAPD stated that Leon hit the child after she didn't stop at a red light.
The woman did not attempt to flee the scene.
After being arrested for a felony DUI charge, Leon has still not gotten released by a Santa Ana Bail Bonds company, and it is still not clear whether or not he has retained the services of an Orange County DUI lawyer.
